I hope it'll be available on other platforms than Microsoft Store.
#GAMES LIKE AGE OF EMPIRES PC 1990S WINDOWS#
I feel like the price is barely OK, but acceptable, and also it's a really bad decision, Microsoft locked out every players who don't use Windows 10. I like it, but at the same time, I'm disappointed. AI is not perfect, there are technical issues and while I like the game, it could have been way better. Gameplay is the same and the 250 population limit doesn't change too much, but a welcome improvement. I wish it was updated in some ways other than sounds and graphics. It's standard nowadays, but for a game like this, I didn't expect more than 3GB. And what is 17GB here? I was kinda shocked by the size of the game. Fortunately it works fine for me, but it's also a bad sign. For real? Also I read many people had problems with starting the game. Zooming far caused me sensible FPS drops on an i5-6402P, 8GB RAM and GTX 750. About the technical part: I feel like the system requirements are ridiculously high for a game like this.

Some enemy units got stuck in a short time. Gazelles got stopped by a unit and completely froze there, meaning they didn't move and their animation stopped too. I saw many, many ridiculousness there in just an hour. And at the same times, I can't even say, it's a lazy remaster. So yeah, I'm so divided here! I like some things, but I feel it lackluster in some ways. Also kinda wish it was a little bit more lively in term of effects, wind, more clouds, sounds effects, etc. well, I miss the smoothness, it's staircase-like, similar to the old game. Units are detailed, but many of them are shared through fractions. The water looks really nice, destruction is beautiful, the little cloud effect on the terrain is nice but subtle. I wish it was kinda like Age of Mythology. But I think 3D models would work better in some cases, rather than higher resolution, smoothly animated units. And that's all?! First off all, it is still 2D and it's not really a bad thing, the visuals improved a much, but the style is the same, true to the original. It looks better, it sounds better, there are some minimal tweaks for the gameplay. It looks better, it sounds better, there are some minimal tweaks I have such mixed feelings about this. Going back to the non-hd version is now (after the latest patch) something I can’t do. All in all I’d only recommend getting this if you loved the original and want to play through it again or if you’ve never played the original before.

*Modding takes you back to the dark ages where you have to go to a website to download the mods by hand.

*AI still isn’t great although the May 2019 patch has improved some of the really bad things, perhaps future updates will eventually make it really good.

If you want full graphics detail your camera is forced rather close and I find this annoying, so I normally find myself playing at 2x detail instead of 4x which leads to it looking blurry at certain zoom levels. *Amount you can zoom in and out is limited by graphics detail, if you want to zoom out super far you need to have the graphics detail (it is called zoom detail) set to 1x. The Bad: *Pathfinding is still bad, if you place one of your units a bunch of you’re non-moving units they won’t move to let it through. *The game now has global queues displayed to show what units are being built, you can click on them to go to the building training the unit. *Pathfinding is now better than the original game’s (as of the May 2019 patch, although it is still lacking compared to modern FPS game AIs). *Expanded population limit! *Added a narrator to the campaign. *Villagers auto harvest resources after building a building that collects them (reduces the micromanagement).

*They added a button that makes villages auto reseed the farms and people can now pass over the farms. The Good: *New visuals and audio (music is great, and I love the building destruction). ***Edit: After writing this review I realized they had pushed a patch last month that did reduce some of my original complaints*** This game ***Edit: After writing this review I realized they had pushed a patch last month that did reduce some of my original complaints*** This game was a mixed bag for me, in the end I've put quite a bit of time into replaying through the single player.
